The book of Esther is unique—it never explicitly mentions God by name. Yet His presence is felt on every page. Behind every twist of fate and act of courage lies the unseen hand of divine providence. 1. Esther’s Courage and Divine Appointment

Esther, a Jewish woman in a foreign palace, is chosen as queen. Her rise to power is no coincidence:

“You may have been made queen for a time like this!”

This moment points forward to Jesus, who came “at just the right time” (Romans 5:6 CEV) to save humanity. Like Esther, Jesus risked everything—His life—to save His people.

2. Hidden Providence: God Is Always Working

Though God’s name is not mentioned, His guidance is clear throughout the story. He uses Mordecai, Esther, and even the king’s sleepless night to accomplish His will.

Just as God was working behind the scenes in Esther’s day, Jesus continues to work in our lives—even when we cannot see Him. He is the fulfillment of God’s unseen but sovereign plan.

3. Mordecai’s Role: A Type of Christ

Mordecai, though once dishonored, is later exalted to a place of authority:

“The king made Mordecai second in command…”
— Esther 10:3 (CEV)

This parallels Jesus, who humbled Himself but was raised up and seated at God’s right hand (Philippians 2:9). Mordecai’s intercession for the Jewish people mirrors Jesus’ role as our mediator.

4. Deliverance from Destruction

The Jews were under a death sentence due to Haman’s evil plot. Esther’s plea leads to their salvation:

“Esther’s bravery saved our nation.”
— Esther 9:25 (CEV)

In the same way, humanity faced the death penalty for sin—but Jesus intervened and offered Himself as the Savior, securing eternal deliverance (Romans 6:23).

5. Jesus, the True Advocate and Deliverer

Esther stood before the king to plead for her people. Jesus stands before the Father as our advocate:

“But Christ will always be there to speak up for us.”
— 1 John 2:1 (CEV)

He is our eternal Deliverer who brings salvation, not just from earthly danger, but from eternal death.

Final Reflection: Trusting the Savior Even in Silence

Even when God seems silent, He is at work. Esther teaches us that deliverance may not always come in dramatic ways—but Jesus is always present, always interceding, always saving. We can trust Him, even in the silence.
