- You read Scripture, pray, serve, and endure trials not to build a case for your righteousness, but to grow in the joy of the righteousness you have already been given.
This gives great comfort to weary believers who feel like they are always falling short. Galatians 3:11 says that your life with God is not built on what you can climb, but on what Christ has already done.
And it also humbles those who are tempted to trust their own discipline or knowledge. The most disciplined, informed person in the world is not “more righteous” in God’s courtroom than the weakest new believer who trusts Christ. Both stand clothed in a righteousness that is not their own.
So when fear whispers, “You are not doing enough to stay in God’s favor,” you can answer:
- “It is clear that no one is put right with God by the Law.”
- “The righteous will live by faith.”
- “My hope is Christ—His obedience, His cross, His resurrection—not my fragile attempts to be enough.”
Resting in the Righteousness That Lives by Faith Alone

The righteous will live by faith. In Christ, that is who you are: not a spiritual performer anxiously trying to keep your place, but a beloved child learning to trust the One who has already made you right with God.
