Amos 6 begins with a word that feels like a siren:
Woe.
Not because God hates rest, but because their “ease” was not peace with God.

They were comfortable while injustice remained.

They trusted their status.
They trusted their fortresses.
They trusted their economy.
They trusted their religious identity.
And God says the problem is not that they had good things.
The problem is that they had numb hearts.

Meaning they could watch their own people suffer, watch the nation decay, watch sin destroy—without feeling it.

Comfort without compassion.
Luxury without mourning.
