1. Jesus: The Only Way to the Father
When Christ declared, “No one comes to the Father but through Me,” He was not expressing exclusivity for the sake of exclusion—but for the sake of access. Because of Adam’s fall, humanity became separated from God; sin established a barrier that no human effort could overcome. Yet, Jesus stepped into history to be the living bridge:
- Resurrection: He conquered death itself so that death would never again hold dominion over those who trust in Him.
- Life: He imparts eternal, unending life—both in quality now and in duration forever.
To approach God—to stand in His presence with confidence—one must come by His chosen way, Jesus Christ. No ritual, no philosophy, no amount of good deeds can substitute for genuine union with Him.
2. Seek First the Kingdom
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus provides a simple but profound prescription for our restless hearts:
“But seek first the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
What does it mean to “seek first”?
- Prioritize Relationship Over Provision
Our natural tendency is to chase after daily needs—food, shelter, security—sometimes at the expense of spiritual priorities. Jesus flips that equation: when we prioritize God’s reign in our lives, He graciously provides for our needs. - Pursue Righteousness
Kingdom-seeking is not license to sin. It’s a quest for Christlikeness—aligning our character and conduct with His righteous standard. - Trust God’s Faithfulness
Our Father sees our needs and delights to supply. As we fix our eyes on the eternal, He takes care of the temporal: “. . . and all these things will be added to you.”
When Kingdom priorities guide our choices—prayer, obedience, generosity—worry subsides, and peace reigns.
3. A Kingdom More Real Than Earthly Things
Material comforts and fleeting successes pale in comparison to the perpetual realities of God’s Kingdom:
- Eternal Duration: Earthly kingdoms rise and fall. God’s Kingdom endures forever.
- Unshakeable Foundation: “Heaven and earth will pass away,” Jesus warned, “but My words will not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)
To live in the Kingdom is to anchor our identity and hope in what cannot be lost or diminished. Our lives, hidden in Christ, partake of His immortal life.
4. The Old Has Passed Away; the New Has Come
Paul echoes this transformation:
“All things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, the old age of sin and death was crucified with Him. What remains is the new life of the Kingdom:
- Sin’s Power Neutralized: At the cross, sin’s hold was broken. Believers now live free from its ultimate penalty.
- Resurrection Power Unleashed: The same power that raised Jesus is accessible to us for daily renewal and transformation.
Our old selves—the regrets, failures, and fleshly inclinations—died in Christ. In Him, we have a fresh start every day, energized by His Spirit.
5. What It Really Means to Believe
Jesus promised:
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.” (John 3:36)
But belief is more than mental agreement. True belief:
- Entrusts the Heart: We place our confidence in Jesus’s person and work.
- Shapes Desires: God knows the deepest longings of our hearts. Belief reorients those longings toward the Kingdom.
- Guards the Mind: Believing the gospel transforms how we think—aligning our perspective with God’s eternal realities.
Belief and seeking the Kingdom go hand in hand. We believe God’s promises, and we diligently seek His righteousness.
6. Repentance: Agreeing with God’s Work
The call to “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17) invites us to:
- Acknowledge the old life: Confessing that sin and self-sufficiency have failed us.
- Affirm the new: Embracing Christ’s death for our sin and His resurrection as our new life.
Repentance is not a one-time event but a daily posture of humility—agreeing with God that “the old has passed away, the new has come” and allowing Him to shape us by His grace.
7. The Kindness of God: Sin Died on the Cross, We Rose with Christ
While sinners, Christ died for us. This act of divine kindness:
- Transfers Our Sin: Our guilt placed on Jesus.
- Credits His Righteousness: His perfect life credited to our account.
- Raises Us to New Life: Just as He was raised, we too walk in resurrection power.
This is the very essence of grace: unmerited favor that transforms our standing before God and our living moment by moment.
8. Living in Resurrection Power
Because Jesus rose, we live in the reality of:
- Victory Over Death: Physical death lost its sting.
- Freedom From Fear: We no longer fear condemnation.
- Empowerment for Service: The resurrected Christ empowers us to serve with love and boldness.
Our earthly circumstances may challenge us, but resurrection power infuses us with hope that cannot be extinguished.
9. All These Things Will Be Added
When we seek the Kingdom first:
- Wisdom: We receive insight for daily decisions.
- Provision: God supplies our material needs.
- Peace: He guards our hearts against anxiety.
This is not prosperity teaching; it is the simple promise that a heart aligned with heaven experiences God’s faithful provision.
10. The Saving Power of the Gospel
To the world, the message of a crucified and risen Savior may seem foolish. Yet it alone carries the power to:
- Save Souls: Bringing the lost into God’s family.
- Transform Hearts: Conforming us to the image of Christ.
- Renew Minds: Shaping our worldviews by eternal truth.
“Believe the gospel, and you shall be saved.” (Acts 16:31) This is the most important message we can ever hear—and ever share.
Conclusion: Responding in Faith
Jesus stands at your door, offering resurrection life and an everlasting Kingdom. His invitation is clear:
- Believe: Entrust your life to Him.
- Seek: Pursue His Kingdom and righteousness above all else.
- Repent: Turn from the old self and embrace new life in Christ.
In response, you will discover:
- Your life hidden in Christ—secure, purposeful, eternal.
- Provision for every need—wisdom, strength, peace.
- A hope that never fades—anchored in the resurrected Lord.
Prayer of Commitment
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life. I repent of my old ways and believe that He died for my sins and rose again. I commit to seek Your Kingdom and righteousness above all. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, empowering me to live in resurrection power. In Jesus’ name, amen.
