The Bible tells us clearly:
“The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 CEV)
This is not a reward we can earn; it is the gift of God through His grace and kindness. Through Jesus Christ, we have been given everything we need for life, salvation, and godliness. This is the heart of the Gospel.
Salvation Is A Gift, Not A Wage
Eternal life is a free gift. It is not the result of good works, religious rituals, or human effort. God, in His kindness, has given this gift through His Son, Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith, not by works so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jesus is the cornerstone of salvation. He is the foundation upon which our faith rests. Without Him, there is no life, no hope, no future. Rejecting Christ is rejecting the very foundation of eternal life. But accepting Him brings us into God’s family as children of light.
Christ Is the Hope of Glory
It is Christ living within us who gives us hope. “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) This is not mere religion. This is life itself—Jesus abiding in us through faith, transforming us into His image, giving us hope, peace, and assurance.
The disciples asked Jesus what they should preach. His answer was simple and powerful:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Repentance is not merely feeling sorry; it is turning to God, learning from Him, receiving the truth of who He is, and living by it. Repentance leads to life. It turns us away from death and toward Jesus, the source of life.
God’s People Perish Without Knowledge
God said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” What knowledge do we lack? Knowledge of Him—knowledge of the Father through Christ Jesus. Without this knowledge, people remain in darkness, bound by sin and separated from the life of God.
Jesus gave His life so we could know the Father. He sacrificed His blood to set us free from sin’s power. Now, because of His sacrifice, our sins are forgiven, and we are truly free—free by the power of Christ.
New Life Through Resurrection
When Jesus was raised to life, we were raised with Him. In Him, we are made new. This is not just symbolic; it is spiritual reality.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Our old nature, tied to sin and death, was nailed to the cross with Christ. Now, through His resurrection, we have been given a new nature—one born of God, free from the chains of sin, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life
Jesus is the way to the Father. He is the resurrection and the life. Without Him, we have no life, no hope. Our life is hidden in Christ. Through Him, we have been richly blessed with every spiritual blessing.
Rejecting this truth, rejecting Christ, is to forfeit the power of salvation. But by believing, by accepting the truth of the Gospel, we are saved. Repent and believe the Gospel, and you shall be saved.
The Power of Repentance
Repentance is learning from Christ. It is not merely turning from sin but turning to Jesus, learning who the Father is through the Son. This is true repentance—turning from darkness to light, from lies to truth, from death to life.
Life is found only in Christ. Those who reject Him remain slaves to sin and under the curse of death. But through repentance and faith, we are brought into the freedom of God’s children.
Freed from the Law, Freed from Sin
Jesus gave His body for us. When He gave His life, our old nature died with Him. Our sins were nailed to the cross. The old man was crucified with Christ. Because of this, we are no longer under the law, no longer slaves to sin.
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
We have been freed from burdens, from condemnation, from death. When Jesus was raised, we were raised with Him. This new nature we now live by is through Christ Jesus. To live is Christ. It is His life in us, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ask for the Holy Spirit
The Father promises the Holy Spirit to all who ask in Jesus’ name. The Spirit gives life, transforms us, renews us, teaches us, and fills us with the nature of Christ. Without the Spirit, we cannot live in God’s will.
“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord. (Zechariah 4:6)
Ask the Father for His Spirit. He will fill you, strengthen you, and lead you into all truth.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Heavenly Father, we thank You for all things in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank You for salvation, for the free gift of eternal life through Your Son. Thank You for renewing our minds, for transforming us into the image of Your Son. Thank You that through Jesus, we know You, and through His Spirit, we live. Amen.
